New Nike Air Max Allows Wearers to Change Fit and Color From Their Phone

The Adapt Auto Max even laces itself.

Merging footwear with digital technology, Nike‘s new Air Max model, the Adapt Auto Max, will allow users to control features such as the sneaker’s fit and colors from their smartphone. Part of the Nike Adapt family, the Auto Max updates Tinker Hatfield‘s iconic Air Max design with a thicker midsole and higher profile to accommodate Nike’s FitAdapt technology.

Wearers can use custom Siri voice control — also available on the Apple Watch — to automatically lace and adjust their shoes. The Nike Adapt app for iPhone and Android also allows users to toggle between two modes of wearing, one for relaxing and one for activity. This spring, Nike will introduce a brand-new feature that illuminates the lace engine of the shoe with 13 customizable color options.

The Adapt Auto Max retails for approximately $361 USD, and releases May 16 on the Nike website.
