UNIQLO Taps New Delhi-Based Designer Rina Singh For SS20 "KURTA" Collection
Inspired by the canvases of modern Renaissance art.
UNIQLO and New Delhi-based designer Rina Singh have teamed up once again for another collection dubbed the “KURTA” range. The latest selection of clothing celebrates the everyday wear of Indian women and incorporates the Japanese global apparel retailer’s LifeWear concept of simple and high-quality garments.
Inspired by modern Renaissance art, the collection’s pieces feature a rich color palette, modern silhouettes and Singh’s hand-painted botanical motif – a tribute to Hungarian-Indian painter, Amrita Sher-Gil. The dresses come in blends of Indian slab yarn rayon, linen and other fabrics that boast soft weaves and light finishes. According to a press release, the summer-friendly offerings are made from an “easy-care rayon fabric that UNIQLO developed with Toray Industries.” Take a look at what to expect in the campaign imagery above.
The Rina Singh x UNIQLO Spring/Summer 2020 “KURTA” collection will be available on June 4 online. In case you missed it, take a look at the latest Billie Eilish x Takashi Murakami x UNIQLO UT collection here.
