Art Hoe Collective Launches Micro Grants for Black Trans Women
In partnership with guest curator Aaron Philip.
Art Hoe Collective, an initiative supporting creatives of color, has opened applications for micro grants benefitting Black transgender women affected by the coronavirus pandemic as well as the racism, misogyny and transphobia that permeates society.
The collective’s first round of micro grants, launched on June 6, was open to all artists of color. The group explained its decision to focus on Black trans women for the second round: “their art and voices are often overlooked and undervalued,” in an Instagram post.
In partnership with guest curator Aaron Philip, a Black and disabled trans model, Art Hoe Collective will award three recipients $1,000 USD each. Recipients will be announced on June 28 at 12 a.m. EST.
Black trans women can learn how to apply for a micro grant at the official Art Hoe Collective Instagram. Those interested in donating can send PayPal funds to arthoecoreps@gmail.com.
