Apple Honors Black History Month With Limited-Edition "Black Unity" Collection
Featuring a new iteration of the Apple Watch Series 6.
Apple has launched a special “Black Unity” collection in celebration of Black History Month. Created to honor and acknowledge Black history and culture, the range includes a limited-edition Apple Watch Series 6, Black Unity Sport Band and Unity watch face.
According to a press release, “members of the Black creative community and allies throughout Apple” collaborated on this special line “to honor the ongoing fight for racial justice.” Featuring shades of black, green and red inspired by the Pan-African flag, the words “Truth. Power. Solidarity.” are laser-engraved onto the interior of the stainless steel fastening pin. The Sport Band is crafted from individual pieces of colored fluoroelastomer, while the face sports an ever-changing pattern.
In addition to its efforts, the tech giant will support six global organizations that are dedicated to promoting and achieving equality and civil rights in the U.S. and around the world. Those groups are: Black Lives Matter Support Fund via the Tides Foundation, European Network Against Racism, International Institute on Race, Equality and Human Rights, Leadership Conference Education Fund, NAACP Legal Defense and Education Fund, Inc., and Souls Grown Deep.
Apple’s “Black Unity” collection will be available online on February 1 starting at 5 a.m. PST (8 a.m. EST).
