McDonald's Japan Introduces Healthier Happy Meal
With options including an edamame and corn vegetable medley.
McDonald’s Japan has updated its Happy Meal with healthier food including vegetable-centric side dishes. Catering to health-conscious parents and their children, new side offerings include yogurt, green salad and a medley of edamame soybeans and corn. That being said, main dish options remain the same — customers can still build their Happy Meals around burgers, cheeseburgers, McNuggets or pancakes, as well as opt for a portion of fries instead of something more nutritious. The fast food chain’s Japanese imprint has also decided to continue its picture book campaign, in which parents can swap out the plastic toy included in a Happy Meal with a free children’s book.
“We made it so that dads and moms who are primarily concerned about their kids’ growth and development can choose the perfect Happy Meal set to put their minds at ease…We’ve prepared an extensive menu for you to choose from while taking nutritional needs into account and giving children the chance to grow and develop,” a statement from McDonald’s Japan, translated by SoraNews24, reads.
