'New Pokémon Snap' Set To Land on Nintendo Switch Soon
Travel back to 1999 with the Nintendo 64-inspired title.
While the Pokémon franchise gears up for its 25th-anniversary festivities, Nintendo has announced the official release date of New Pokémon Snap on the Switch. The new title, inspired by the 1999 Nintendo 64 game, takes place in the Lental Region, where players will discover hundreds of creatures.
Working with Professor Mirror, users will be given the task of capturing photos of various Pokémon as they wander through different islands and landscapes, including beaches and jungles. Throughout the journey, players are asked to learn about Illumina Phenomenon, an effect that causes the monsters to glow at night. Users will be able to travel on the NEO-ONE pod as they shoot images that are later evaluated by Professor Mirror. Unlike other titles such as Pokémon Sword and Shield, gamers will not be catching the monsters at all. Each photo will be stored in the Pokémon Photodex, which gathers information on the creatures in their natural state.
Watch the trailer above for a sneak peek at New Pokémon Snap, which will launch on April 30. You can head over to the Nintendo eShop now to preorder the title for $59.99 USD.
