Britney Spears Slams Christina Aguilera for Refusing to Speak About Conservatorship

Britney Spears took to social media to criticize Christina Aguilera for refusing to speak up about her conservatorship, which was officially terminated earlier this month.
“I love and adore everyone who supported me… But refusing to speak when you know the truth, is equivalent to a lie! Thirteen years being in a corrupt abusive system, yet why is it such a hard topic for people to talk about? I’m the one who went through it,” the pop star wrote on her Instagram Stories, sharing a clip of Aguilera avoiding a question about the years-long conservatorship. She added: “All the supporters who spoke up supported me thank you… Yes, I do matter!”
In the video, a reporter asks the “Genie In A Bottle” singer whether she has been in contact with Spears. The musician comments, “I can’t, but I’m happy for her,” and leaves the interview. It’s worth noting that Aguilera previously took to Twitter to stand up for Spears, writing that “it is unacceptable that any woman, or human, wanting to be in control of their own destiny might not be allowed to live life as they wish.”
Following up on the video, Spears thanked those who have spoken up and supported her. Sharing a clip of Lady Gaga, the “Crazy” singer wrote: “Thank you Lady Gaga for genuinely taking your time to say something so kind.” The footage shows the House of Gucci star speaking in length about the conservatorship: “The way she was treated in this business was really wrong, and the way that women are treated in the music industry is something I wish would change.” She further shared her love and respect for Spears: “She’s a woman in this business that showed a lot of power in her sexuality, even in her youth, in a way that for me as a young woman was just so inspiring and empowering.”
