A Backstage Look at Dior Men's Fall 2022 Show
The presentation marks Kim Jones’ first runway outing in London since 2003.
Kim Jones presented an energetic Americana-inspired collection on Dior Men‘s runway at Kensington Olympia in West London Thursday night. The show famously preceded an after-party where Naomi Campbell and Sam Smith danced to a live surprise performance by Grace Jones.
The range introduces a nomadic academic aesthetic, displaying bookish tweed blazers paired with vivid blue corduroy slacks and sturdy laced footwear. Joining the slew of garments and accessories are tailored khaki vests, bright green and yellow tartan blazers, acid green slacks and shearling-lined outerwear.
Motivated by the fearless spirit of ‘50s America and Jack Kerouac’s novel On The Road, the Fall 2022 men’s line embodies the rebellious and free-spirited nature of the Beat Generation. Filling the space was a comprehensive exhibition of Jones’ collection of rare books, manuscripts and personal letters penned by Kerouac. The catwalk mirrored the 120-foot scroll the Beatnik author used to create his famous work, coupled with audio of Twilight actor Robert Pattinson reciting Kerouac’s words. Interestingly enough, his former co-star and ex-girlfriend Kirsten Stewart starred in the film adaptation of the novel.
