27 Viral Tracks That Took Over TikTok in 2021

From Doja Cat and Olivia Rodrigo, to BTS and Normani.

2021 was another big year for TikTok, serving as the platform for numerous trends across fashion, beauty, food and music. As we prepare to welcome the year 2022, we’ve rounded up some of the most viral tracks that took over the video app for social media challenges.

Doja Cat‘s hits like “Need to Know” birthed new dance routines on the platform, while “Streets” went viral with the #SilhouetteChallenge. Olivia Rodrigo‘s songs were also a go-to with her breakout track “drivers license” and “good 4 u.”

While recent tunes like Normani‘s “Wild Side” and Coi Leray‘s “TWINNEM” dominated the platform, TikTok also threw it back to the ’90s and ’00s by bringing back nostalgic hits. Social media users added Kid Cudi‘s “Day N’ Nite” to their videos, using the lyrics “now look at this” before cutting to an instrumental version of the track. Kardinal Offishall‘s “Dangerous” also made a comeback.

Further standouts from our list include BTS‘ “Butter,” Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak‘s “Leave the Door Open,” Erica Banks‘ “Buss It” and more. See some of our favorite TikTok songs of 2021 down below, and save our dedicated playlist on Spotify.
