MM6 Maison Margiela Releases "Avant-Premiere" FW22 Collection
The new capsule reimagines the brand’s signature utilitarian style.
MM6 Maison Margiela unveils its new avant-premiere Fall/Winter 2022 collection. For its latest line of garments, the label turns its militaristic aesthetic on its head, reinventing practical silhouettes for chic and experimental looks.
Subverting the functionality of utility-driven design, MM6 Maison Margiela’s new line transforms sturdy wool into dramatic cropped watchcoats and reconfigures battle-ready knit fabric into feminine frilled crew and polo neck tops. Elsewhere, deep chocolate suede miniskirts outfitted with ornate buttoned patch pockets are inspired by 19th century uniforms.
Marrying fashion and function, the brand’s new pieces are designed to enhance the ease of movement and comfort for everyday wear. Included in the army-inspired range of clothing is a multi-wear wool coat that can be styled multiple ways, thanks to inventive underarm cut-outs. Distressed alpaca-blend knits are decorated with intentional holes to provide access to hidden pockets and feature voluminous sleeves that drape over the hands ready-to-wear gloves.
“Avant-Premiere” also includes some leather accessories, including a shoulder bag modeled after water flasks and designed to fit the body’s shape, as well as compact crossbody bags.
