Versace Embraces the Early Aughts in Its Pre-Fall 2022 Collection
Lingerie-inspired skirts and fur-trimmed coats lead the capsule.
Donatella Versace takes an unapologetic approach to the Women’s Pre-Fall 2022 line.
Embracing the slinky silhouettes of the early 2000s, Versace reimagines the brand’s signature motifs in form-fitting shapes outfitted in saturated shades of cobalt blue and baby pink.
Grounded in the trademark black and white Barocco print, the new collection infuses subtle references to workwear with the fashion label’s intrinsic unabashed sensuality and extravagance.
Smartly tailored coats with cinched waists are paired with sleek responsibly-sourced latex boots while ombré mini skirt suits in preppy tweed are accented with colorful head scarves for a more playful look.
Lingerie strings appear throughout the range of garments, peeking out from the hips of midriff-baring skirts and flared pants or laying delicately on the neckline of mid-length dresses.
Elsewhere, black trapeze shifts are complemented with a multi-colored version of the brand’s archival motif. The lively print appears on the sleeves of sharp blazers and in the form of a silky matching set and delightful leggings, perfect for adding a pop of color and joy to cold winter days.
Highlights from the collection are bold fur-trimmed coats featuring shimmering metallic embroidery on the body. The bubblegum pink leather jacket makes for fun yet edgy outerwear.
Versace’s formal options are not without grandeur — glimmering seashell-shaped bustiers bedazzled with rhinestones are held together with gold-accented straps and paired with sculptural platforms. Sultry fishnet binds together the darker corsets for an even more dramatic effect.
