Evan Rachel Wood Names Marilyn Manson as Her Abuser

Several other women have detailed similar experiences with the musician.

Evan Rachel Wood has come forward with allegations of abuse against Marilyn Manson. “The name of my abuser is Brian Warner, also known to the world as Marilyn Manson,” the actor wrote in a post on Instagram. “He started grooming me when I was a teenager and horrifically abused me for years. I was brainwashed and manipulated into submission,” she added. The two met in 2005, when Wood was 18 and Manson was 36.

Wood has previously spoken out about her experiences of abuse, but refrained from naming the perpetrator. In 2018, she testified before Congress in an effort to get the Sexual Assault Survivors Bill of Rights passed in all 50 states. “My experience with domestic violence was this: toxic mental, physical and sexual abuse which started slow but escalated over time, including threats against my life, severe gaslighting and brainwashing, waking up to the man that claimed to love me raping what he believed to be my unconscious body,” she stated.

In a show of solidarity, several other women have come forward with similar allegations against Manson. Model Sarah McNeilly alleged that the artist would lock her in rooms, isolate her from friends and threaten violence, abuse tactics that two other women — one named Gabriella and another named Ashley — also experienced.

As reported by Vanity Fair, a police report filed in May 2018 details sex crimes that Manson allegedly perpetrated in 2011. Manson’s attorney, Howard E. King, denied those allegations. Neither Manson nor King have responded to Wood’s statement.
