Marie Kondo Announces Release Date of New Netflix Show, 'Sparking Joy'
The organization star is taking her teachings outside of the home.
UPDATE (July 22, 2021): Marie Kondo‘s new Netflix show, Sparking Joy, will release on the streaming platform later this summer.
The home organization guru announced the news on Instagram, captioning her post with a brief description of the show’s premise: “Marie is coming back to Netflix next month with a brand-new series — and this time, she’s taking her teachings outside the home!” Indeed, a promo image of Kondo in a plant-filled garden bears an intriguing logline reading, “The home was just the beginning.”
Sparking Joy premieres on Netflix on August 31.
ORIGINAL STORY (March 18, 2021): Netflix has confirmed that Marie Kondo will star in a new TV show, Sparking Joy, coming to the streaming platform this summer.
The home organization icon, who captured viewers’ hearts in Netflix’s 2019 series Tidying Up with Marie Kondo, will delve further into her signature KonMari method and its principal tenet: only hold onto items that spark joy. According to a press release, Sparking Joy will introduce fans to Kondo’s family, as well as give viewers a peek inside her home. Building on the success of Netflix’s home organization and design shows, the streaming giant has also renewed two additional series, Get Organized with The Home Edit and Dream Home Makeover, for second and third seasons respectively.
