Marvel Casts Michaela Coel in 'Black Panther: Wakanda Forever'
Potentially starring alongside Lupita Nyong’o, Danai Gurira and Letitia Wright.
Michaela Coel has been cast in the upcoming sequel of Black Panther, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
While the British actor’s character details have not been revealed by Marvel Studios, production has already commenced at Pinewood Studios in Atlanta last month, as per Variety. “It’s clearly very emotional without Chad [Boseman],” Marvel Studios’s chief Kevin Feige previously expressed to the publication last month. “But everyone is also very excited to bring the world of Wakanda back to the public and back to the fans. We’re going to do it in a way that would make Chad proud.”
For those unfamiliar with Coel, you may have seen her in HBO Max‘s I May Destroy You series, for which she earned four Emmy Award nominations, including “Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited Series or Movie.” The talent’s other credits include her appearance in Netflix’s Black Mirror and Chewing Gum, as well as films like Been So Long and Star Wars: The Last Jedi.
The official cast list has yet to be announced but it is likely that Lupita Nyong’o, Danai Gurira, Letitia Wright and Angela Bassett will return. Stay tuned while we wait for more details to surface on Coel’s character.
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is expected to premiere on July 8, 2022.
