'Bridgerton' Announces New Cast Members for Season 2
The news comes shortly after Regé-Jean Page announced his departure from the series.
Bridgerton is welcoming four new cast members. According to Variety, Charithra Chandran, Shelley Conn, Calam Lynch and Rupert Young will join the second season of the hit series, produced by Shondaland and available to stream on Netflix.
Chandran will play Edwina Sharma, a naive yet endearing debutante-in-training, and Conn will take on the role of Mary Sharma, an Earl’s daughter whose marriage scandalized the family. Lynch, who has previously appeared in Dunkirk and Derry Girls, will portray Theo Sharpe, a printer’s assistant. Lastly, Young will play Jack, the newest member of the “ton” (English high society).
The new additions follow the announcement that Regé-Jean Page is exiting the show. Page, who played the Duke of Hastings, became a breakout star for his character’s charm and steamy sex scenes. As reported by the Los Angeles Times, Page was signed onto a one-season contract — however, it’s unclear why his contract wasn’t extended in the wake of the show’s success.
Stay tuned for the official premiere date of Bridgerton season 2.
