Dusen Dusen Reimagines Dims.' Cleo Chair With Bright Pops of Color
The two brands combine their design signatures on an artful furniture piece.
Contemporary home furnishings company Dims. has tapped Ellen Van Dusen, the designer behind Brooklyn-based brand Dusen Dusen, to collaborate on a limited-edition style of its signature Cleo Chair.
Referencing the De Stijl and Memphis art and design movements, Van Dusen puts a whimsical spin on the sleek furniture piece, a design that Dims. originally created with Norwegian designer, Stine Aas. Replacing a solid paint color with mix-and-matched hues, the result is a fun, artful chair hand-finished in six different colors across the legs, seat, base and back — a cheerful palette typical of Dusen Dusen’s own collection of color-forward home goods. Using an induction heating press, the seat and back are precision-molded from seven layers of flat-cut ash wood, forming a curved back that flows seamlessly into the architectural base.
While this special Cleo Chair design was quickly sold out when it launched earlier this week, home design enthusiasts can expect to pre-order the statement-making chair when another limited batch releases on April 29 — at 8 a.m. PST/11 a.m. EST to be exact. With only 50 pieces available for this drop, the Dusen Dusen x Cleo Chair can be purchased online at the Dims. website for $495 USD.
