Our Favorite Beauty Products of April 2021

Makeup, skincare and haircare launches worth trying, according to HYPEBAE editors.

Between game-changing skincare treatments and exciting new makeup launches, at HYPEBAE, our editors test out a bunch of products every month to find and share with you our latest beauty favorites. Stepping into spring, we’ve been embracing all that makes us look and feel good from the inside out: an SPF that isn’t only sun-protective but also gives your skin a radiant glow, a hair oil that adds a luxurious shine to your tresses, and a beautifully designed eyeshadow palette that will make you feel excited about getting ready in the morning. Read on for the beauty products that our staff loved using during the month of April.

BREAD Beauty Supply Hair-Oil

When my hairdresser suggested I add hair oil to my routine, I recoiled. I mistakenly thought that anything with oil would make my head look greasy and unshowered when in reality, the product helps smooth and moisturize locks. BREAD Beauty Supply’s Hair-Oil, one of the brand’s hero products, lives up to its hype. Applying just a few drops to wet hair after showering helps set my middle part in place, tames flyaways and adds gloss. An added bonus, it smells delicious — its subtle scent reminds me of grape gummy candy. – Alexandra Pauly, Associate Editor

Byredo Eyeshadow 5 Colours Dysco

Eyeshadow 5 Colours Dysco
$70 USD

If you’re looking for a reason to get back into wearing makeup after a year of stillness, let Byredo‘s Dysco eyeshadow palette be it. Part of the brand’s Spring 2021 makeup offerings, the five-shade compact features a gradient of warm, honey-like tones with subtle shimmer — versatile for easy, everyday wear, while also ideal for creating dramatic eye looks, if that’s your thing. With a sleek packaging design boasting a gold shell, the product is an objet d’art worthy of displaying on your vanity. – Teresa Lam, Features Editor

Kosas Brow Pop

Kosas
Brow Pop Clean Dual-Action Defining Eyebrow Pencil
$22 USD
SephoraSephora

After accidentally leaving the cap of my Glossier Brow Flick open and drying out the brush-tip last month (RIP), I had been looking for a replacement product for my eyebrows. That’s where Kosas‘ newly launched defining pencil Brow Pop came to the rescue. Along with the Air Brow volumizing gel (I use the shade Medium Brown for both products), the dual-ended pencil gives me natural-looking, filled-in brows that last even on warmer days. Its octagonal shape, which keeps the product stable on flat surfaces, is a small design detail that I also appreciate — anyone who has unwillingly dropped and broken their makeup products before can probably relate. – Teresa Lam, Features Editor

Supergoop! Glowscreen SPF 30

Supergoop!
Glowscreen SPF 30
£32 GBP (Approx. $44.50 USD)
Cult BeautyCult Beauty

If you’re looking for a sunscreen that doubles as the perfect makeup base, Supergoop!’s Glowscreen is the one. Having used other SPF products from the brand, I was keen on seeing how this product would differ, and was almost shocked when applying it for the first time. Adding an almost metallic sheen to your skin, the product is perfect underneath a sheer base (I usually use a cream-to-powder foundation or just concealer on top) and makes your skin look luminous whilst still protecting you from the harsh UV rays. That’s a big win in my opinion. – Tora Northman, Editor

Olaplex No.8 Bond Intense Moisture Mask

Olaplex
No.8 Bond Intense Moisture Mask
$28 USD
SephoraSephora

Born with naturally frizzy hair, I had been getting perms my entire life, until the pandemic broke out and going to the hairdresser frequently was no longer an ideal option. After trying multiple products, I finally settled on Olaplex’s No.8 hair mask, which is perfect for repairing damaged strands. Formulated to make your hair healthier from the inside out, this mask works just like a salon treatment and only takes 10 minutes to use in the shower. I’d gently massage the product into damp hair once a week for silkier hair. – YeEun Kim, Associate Editor
