Daniel Radcliffe Will Play "Weird Al" Yankovic in New Biopic
Harry Potter will trade in his wand for a microphone.
If the Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts special had you yearning to see more of the cast all grown up, here’s something to look forward to: Daniel Radcliffe’s next on-screen appearance will be as parody rapper “Weird Al” Yankovic in a new biopic.
Flexing his music skills, the former wizard will portray the Grammy-award winning musician in the upcoming film titled, WEIRD: The Al Yankovic Story, which explores the “King of Spoof’s” childhood and rise to fame for his comedic songs, like “Trapped In The Drive-Thru.” The new movie, which will premiere on Roku, offers fans a look at a different side of the Harry Potter actor, as it does not shy away from diving into the famed artist’s notoriously hedonistic lifestyle.
“The biopic holds nothing back, exploring every facet of Yankovic’s life, from his meteoric rise to fame with early hits like ‘Eat It’ and ‘Like a Surgeon’ to his torrid celebrity love affairs and famously depraved lifestyle. WEIRD: The Al Yankovic Story takes audiences on a truly unbelievable journey through Yankovic’s life and career, from gifted child prodigy to the greatest musical legend of all time,” a press release reads.
