Jennifer Coolidge Says Ariana Grande Helped Revive Her Career

The ‘White Lotus’ star thanks the singer for spot-on impressions of her.

Fans of Ariana Grande will know that one of the musician’s hidden skills is her spot-on impressions of Jennifer Coolidge, which she showed off on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon four years ago. Sitting down with the comedian, the White Lotus star thanked the singer for reviving her career.

“It was the beginning of a lot of cool things that happened for me,” the actor said. “I was going through a dead zone — not much was going on. Then, Ariana did this imitation on your show, and you encouraged her, and then this ball got rolling.”

After her career was back on track, Coolidge even tried DMing her on Instagram. “I was like, ‘No, she’s got 260 million followers! Those are robots. The robots answer the DMs.’ I did it anyway and then this response came back and then the next thing you know, I was like going to her house getting a wardrobe fitting for ‘thank u, next.’”

Watch Grande imitate Coolidge in Legally Blonde, where she delivers her iconic line: “I’m taking the dog, dumbass!”
