Netflix Champions the Asian Diaspora With Dedicated Social Media Channel
“All Asian stories are golden, and if given the opportunity, they will shine.”
Netflix has debuted a brand new Instagram and Twitter account dedicated to spotlighting the Asian diaspora.
Dubbed Netflix Golden, the platform will feature content that celebrates Asian talent, both in front of and behind the camera. A new series titled “Spill the Boba Tea” will release soon, which was created in collaboration with Wong Fu Productions. Host Philip Wang, the company’s co-founder, will speak with your favorite Netflix stars at his BOPOMOFO café while making unique boba tea drinks inspired by the interviewees’ lives. Emily in Paris‘ Ashley Park will appear in the first episode airing on January 27 via Instagram.
Golden joins the steaming giant’s other verticals such as Strong Black Lead, Netflix Film, Con Todo, Geeked, Netflix Is a Joke and Most. “Our name, Golden, was inspired by the phrase, ‘Real gold will always shine,’ and that all Asian stories are golden, and if given the opportunity, they will shine,” Netflix shared in a statement.
