Stella McCartney SS23 Is the Designer's "Most Responsible Collection to Date"

Plus, both Gigi and Bella Hadid walked the runway.

Stella McCartney took to the outdoors for her Spring/Summer 2023 showcase, marking a first for the brand. Presented in the piazza of the Centre Pompidou, the show saw models walking across brightly colored paths in homage to Paris.

A true culmination of fashion and art, the showcase featured the work of Japanese artist Yoshitomo Nara, with McCartney particularly drawn to his “Change The History” slogan. Featuring Nara’s distinctive illustrations across the garments, SS23 paved the way for a further unisex capsule collection between the pair, set to be released in December this year.

Elsewhere, the collection fused McCartney’s minimal aesthetic with a playful sensuality, offering a clash of formal and fun through Savile Row tailoring and asymmetric cuts. With glimpses of body jewelry, chains and crystals hiding under jackets and T-shirt dresses, the showcase successfully dipped its toe in both worlds.

In signature Stella McCartney style, the ready-to-wear offering was made with 87% conscious materials, making it the designer’s most responsible collection to date. Debuting the luxury industry’s first-ever regenerative cotton garment, the showcase was a first in more ways than one. Completing the collection are its accessories, which include the S-Wave shoulder bag, crafted with a grape-based leather alternative, alongside the Frayme Mylo bag, made of mycelium.
