Lily-Rose Depp Channels Her Inner Pop Star in Provocative New Teaser Trailer for 'The Idol'
The HBO series premieres on June 4.
UPDATE (April 18, 2023): It’s been six months but HBO has finally released a new teaser trailer for The Idol.
Teaser #4 shows a deeper look into Jocelyn (Lily-Rose Depp)’s life as a pop star, which includes help from Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye, who plays a self-help guru and the head of the cult.
“Pop music is the ultimate trojan horse,” his character tells Jocelyn in the latest teaser. “You get people to dance, you get people to sing along.”

ORIGINAL STORY (October 6, 2022): HBO has released a new teaser trailer for The Idol, starring Lily-Rose Depp and Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye as lovers.
The new preview of the Sam Levinson-co-created series gives an inside look into Depp and Tesfaye’s relationship, which appears to be toxic. “I need full control,” he tells her. “No matter f–king what.”
The official synopsis reads as follows: “The Idol, set against the backdrop of the music industry, centers on a self-help guru and leader of a modern-day cult, who develops a complicated relationship with an up-and-coming pop idol.”
Also starring in the upcoming series is Troye Sivan, Suzanna Son, Dan Levy and BLACKPINK‘s Jennie.
The Idol is set to premiere on HBO sometime in 2023. Watch Teaser 3 below.
