Miuccia Prada Steps Down as CEO of Prada Group
The end of an era.
Miuccia Prada is officially stepping down as CEO of the Prada Group, alongside her husband Patrizio Bertelli (the co-CEO).
In what marks the end of an era for both Prada and Miu Miu, the pair will be stepping down from their positions in early 2023, with former CEO of Luxottica and LVMH’s hospitality unit, Andrea Guerra, as the new replacement. According to Business of Fashion, Prada is set to recruit top executives to assist in the brand’s succession, in a bid to reassure its many investors. Guerra’s appointment is rumored to be confirmed in January of the new year.
Though Miuccia is set to step down as CEO of the group, Mrs. Prada is still planning to remain the Creative Director of Miu Miu and Co-Creative Director of Prada, alongside designer Raf Simons. The Prada group is reportedly planning on appointing a new CEO for its main Prada label, likely to be Gianfranco d’Attis, the Americas CEO of LVMH’s Christian Dior Couture division, though the brand has yet to confirm this news.
Miu Miu was recently named ‘Brand of the Year’ by Lyst in its ‘Year in Fashion’ report, while Prada’s triangle-logo tank top made it into the company’s ‘Hottest Items of 2022.’ As a result, it’ll be interesting to see how the Group’s new appointments have an impact on the success of the brands, both of which appear to have had a remarkably influential year.
