Disney+ Shares the Official Trailer of Olivia Rodrigo's 'driving home 2 u' Film

A cinematic journey exploring the making of ‘SOUR.’

UPDATE (March 18, 2022): Olivia Rodrigo‘s live concert movie, driving home 2 u (a SOUR film), is set to premiere on Disney+ soon. Ahead of the release, the streaming giant has debuted the film’s official trailer.

Directed by Stacey Lee, driving home 2 u highlights Rodrigo’s road trip from Salt Lake City to Los Angeles during the time she was making her first-ever album, SOUR. The documentary will also give fans a glimpse into Rodrigo’s creative process and her personal point of view on her Grammy-nominated project.

“I think it’s really interesting to come back to a place you haven’t been to, in a long time, as a new person,” Rodrigo says. “I just wanted to tell people what was going on in the back of my head that was proud and not ashamed. There’s nothing that connects people, and nothing that is a truer window into the human emotion, more than music,” she continues.

driving home 2 u will release on Disney+ on March 25.

Exploring the story of her chart-topping album, SOUR, the documentary features intimate interviews and never-before-seen clips from the making of the record. Fans will also be treated with new live arrangements of her songs performed in unique locations, including Mojave Airplane Boneyard, Roy’s Motel & Café, Arcosanti and the Red Rock Canyon State Park. Additionally, the film will include special guest performances and appearances by Jacob Collier, Blu DeTiger and Towa Bird.

“This is a unique film experience where for the first-time fans will understand how her album came to be and why it was such a personal journey for Olivia,” said Ayo Davis, president of Disney Branded Television, in a press release. “This is not a concert film per say, but really, an opportunity to experience first-hand how Olivia Rodrigo became one of the biggest music stars of the day — and a chance to see her perform the songs from SOUR like never before.”
