Nike Takes a Big Step To Fighting Bots
Could this mean fewer L’s?
Long overdue changes are coming to the Nike SNKRS Pass app. Founded in 2018, SNKRS was created as a way for shoppers to procure coveted releases through in-app purchasing and reservations.
Due to the resale-driven landscape and evolving bot technology, navigating the app has been less than ideal for the average customer. Nike is addressing the issue by reformatting SNKRS from a first-come, first-served build to a new drawing style more similar to a raffle.
In a statement, Nike addresses the new changes along with additional bot-fighting measures:
“Our goal is to create experiences that are less stressful and more convenient, and we’re confident this new layer of bot-filtration, facilitated by the ‘Draw,’ will allow for more Members like you to reserve your most sought-after pairs.”
“We will be slowly rolling out this new version of Pass throughout the coming weeks. To ensure that you’re able to access this newest version of SNKRS Pass, please update your app to the most current version.”
