'Mean Girls' Actor Gets Candid About Her Character Emma Gerber's Hair Not Taking "Hours"
“That hairdo must’ve taken hours,” Cady Heron told her in the film.
Mean Girls actor Jan Caruana got real about her character Emma Gerber’s hairdo, revealing it actually didn’t take long to do like Lindsay Lohan‘s character, Cady Heron, assumed it did at the Spring Fling.
In the scene, which takes place towards the end of the movie, Cady gives her speech after being crowned Spring Fling queen when all of a sudden she compliments Emma. “That hairdo must’ve taken hours and you look really pretty,” Cady tells her. Nearly two decades later, fans are finally getting answers after a tweet questioning Emma’s hairdo went viral.
Korey Kuhl wrote, “I guess I just don’t believe that Emma Gerber’s hairdo ‘must’ve taken hours.’” Caruana came across the tweet and replied, “At first it took about 25 minutes. Then I got sent to set and the director said, ‘That doesn’t look like it took hours.’ So I was sent back to hair and they stuck some flowers in it and I got sent back again. So in total … Maybe one hour.”
In an additional tweet, Caruana revealed that although achieving her hairstyle didn’t take long, filming did. “Shooting that scene took hours,” she wrote. “Does that count?”
