Meta Is Reportedly Working On Its Own AR Glasses

With the ability to communicate and interact with holograms.

Following its team-up with Ray-Ban last year on smart glasses, Meta is now reportedly going to produce its own AR glasses.

According to The VergeMark Zuckerberg sees the project as a way to separate the company from Apple and Google, “which together dictate the terms that apps like Facebook have to abide by on mobile phones.” Reports state that employees are working on the first generation to launch by 2024 and are already processing a “lighter, more advanced design for 2026,” followed by the third iteration in 2028.

The upcoming model, dubbed Project Nazare, will require “a wireless, phone-shaped device” in order to function. The glasses will allow users to communicate and interact with the hologram versions of their contacts. Additionally, the glasses could potentially be based on the Android system, as well as eye-tracking for a true AR experience.

Stay tuned as we wait for more details to surface.
