"Gym Lips" Is TikTok's Exercise-Less Makeup Hack
You don’t need to be in the gym to try this at home.
Whether you’re running down the street to hail a cab in the city, in the office, on a date or hitting the treadmill in the gym, TikTok’s sweatless makeup trend “gym lips” fits any of those occasions.
Coined by makeup artist Kelli Anne Sewell, #Gymlips has amassed over 93,000 views on TikTok. “It’s basically an over-lined lip that I wear to the gym that’s really natural, and it’s randomly catching on,” Sewell advises in a breakdown video with tips on how to achieve the effortless lip. While many of us may not want to feature a lipstick or lip liner before the gym, the look itself translates well to those barely-there makeup days, or full-on glam, requiring only two products.
Sewell discovered that by overlining your pout with a lip liner shade that’s a close match to your natural lip color or one that fits your skin tone, you could then seal the deal with either a clear plumping lip gloss or your favorite colorless lip balm product for the perfect pouty finish. The final result is meant to be natural so that it doesn’t look out of place when working out at the gym or running errands with no makeup on.
