
'Minions 2' Taps Diana Ross, H.E.R., Phoebe Bridgers and More for Official Soundtrack
Inspired by the ’70s.
Minions: The Rise of Gru, also known as Minions 2, is set to hit the big screen this summer. Ahead of the release, Universal Pictures has revealed the film‘s soundtrack featuring a star-studded lineup of artists.
Produced by Jack Antonoff, the project was announced via a ’70s-inspired music video. Appearing on the soundtrack are familiar names like Diana Ross, Tame Impala, St. Vincent, H.E.R., Bleachers, Phoebe Bridgers, Kali Uchis, Thundercat and Caroline Polachek, along with Weyes Blood, Brockhampton and more.
The tracklist includes St. Vincent’s rendition of Lipps Inc.’s “Funkytown,” Bridgers’ version of The Carpenters’ “Goodbye to Love,” the Bleachers’ take on John Lennon’s “Instant Karma!” and H.E.R.’s cover of Sly and the Family Stone’s “Dance to the Music.” “My favorite ’70s songs performed by my favorite artists and an original I wrote with Sam dew, Patrik Berger and Kevin Parker performed by Diana Ross and Tame Impala called ‘Turn Up the Sunshine,’” Antonoff shared in his caption on Instagram.
The Minions: The Rise of Gru soundtrack is now available for pre-order and will be officially released on July 1, the same day as the movie’s premiere. Peep the full tracklist below.
