Cardi B Drops Her First Single of the Year: "Hot Shit" Featuring Kanye West and Lil Durk
After she almost canceled the release of the track.
UPDATE (July 1, 2022): Cardi B has released her highly anticipated track “Hot Shit” featuring Kanye West and Lil Durk.
The Bronx native took to Twitter to express how she was feeling about dropping her first single since last year’s “Up.” She wrote, “My heart [is] beating fast … I’m nervous.”
Prior to releasing the collab, Cardi expressed she was having thoughts of canceling the project all together. However, she decided to release the track on time without the music video. “I wanted to cancel my release for this week because shit is not being executed how it’s supposed to,” Cardi explained in a recent Instagram Live. “I haven’t dropped a single, for like what, almost a year and three months. I feel like my last single was like last February … But then I’m like ‘you know what, it’s too drastic.’”
She continued, “I will be dropping the song and I will be dropping the cover art. But I will not be releasing a music video with this song, and I’m not … I just don’t like doing too much this time around because I’m just so exhausted with everybody. I’m so tired of people not doing their job correctly. I’m tired of people just doing things their way. I’m just over it.”

ORIGINAL (June 27, 2022): Cardi B fans are in for a treat soon. The rapper took to social media to reveal she’s releasing a song called “Hot Shit.”
“My new single ‘Hot Shit’ available everywhere this Friday 7/1,” she wrote on Instagram. “Tomorrow [at] 8pm, I got another surprise for y’all, tune in.”
While there’s no way to know what the surprise is, many fans think the news could be related to her sophomore album. In May, the Bronx native shared an update on her forthcoming LP, explaining its delay had to do with “technical difficulties.” She shared in a Twitter voice note at the time, “When things come out, that’s when I’mma talk about it. It’s nothing, like, major or crazy. Yeah, we’ll figure it out ’cause I know, I know, I know, I know you guys want that and I’m gonna give it to ya, Okay? Okay.”
Cardi has previously stated her second album will be coming out sometime this year.
