New York Based-Designer Nik Bentel's Iconic Pasta Bag Is Back For Round 2
This time, inspired by Barilla’s rival De Cecco.
Following the success of his first Pasta Bag, New York-based designer Nik Bentel is set to release a new and improved version, dubbed The Pasta Bag 2.0.
Born out of lockdown, the first pasta bag was developed during the most brutal months of the pandemic. Bentel found himself staring at a box of Barilla pasta as he cooked his 100th bowl of penne, and decided to reimagine the box into something a little more exciting.
Speaking to HYPEBEAST about his process in 2021, Bentel explains that his first step was ”talking to bag and leather experts who knew what materials and manufacturing processes I should use. From there, I went to a number of bag makers to collect samples.” The bag itself is made up of vegan leather and features UV printing on the surface in order to replicate the pasta brand’s design. The second edition is inspired by Barilla’s rival pasta company De Cecco and will be available in a limited-edition run of 100 units, each priced at $199 USD.
The Pasta Bag 2.0 will be available for purchase from Bentel’s website from June 8.
