Selena Gomez Snatches the Edges off Ponytails With Her 1960s-Inspired Birthday Style
She’s 30, flirty and thriving.
Selena Gomez brought in her dirty thirties with a ponytail that even Austin Powers would think was groovy.
The Only Murders in the Building star celebrated the start of a new decade with a lavish party and wore a stunning Versace gown for the occasion. “After a few days of celebrating, my heart feels full, grateful and I can say that I’m starting to really like 30,” the Rare Beauty founder exclaimed in an Instagram post. “Thank you so much for being a part of my life, here’s to another decade! Love you all inside and out so much it hurts!”
In Gomez’s photos, you can see her mocha brunette tresses are styled pulled back from her face for a sleek and chic vibe and worn high with ’60s mod-inspired flipped-out ends, adding a modern flair to the ponytail moment.
Marissa Marino, Gomez’s hairstylist, went into an old book of hair tricks and wrapped a piece of loose extension hair around the base of the pony to conceal any flyaways to keep the evidence of extra hair as discreet and invisible as possible. To bring the look altogether for the birthday girl, makeup artist Hung Vanngo went for an evening fresh face moment with golden skin, voluminous lashes, cat eyeliner and a skin-tone satin lipstick.
Ponytails have been the It girl hairstyle of the summer. With beauty icon Jennifer Lopez donning a similar hair moment at her wedding to Ben Affleck, we’re sure the ponytail is a staple go-to for any and every occasion.
