The Wing Suddenly Shuts Down All Its Co-Working Locations

Members were notified via email of the closing, effective immediately.

The Wing, a women’s-only social club and co-working space, has closed all its co-working locations.

Members were notified of the news via email. “The operating environment since reopening our six current locations of The Wing, 14 months ago has continued to prove extremely challenging,” read the email. “With the backdrop of the Covid pandemic and increasing global economic challenges, we have been unable to recover and grow the level of active membership and event activity necessary to run a financially sustainable operation.”

Members were told by IGW, the Wing’s parent company, that they could have access to IGW’s U.S. locations until the end of September.

The Wing was first founded in New York in 2016 by Audrey Gelman and Lauren Kassan following the Donald Trump election after many were crushed by Hillary Clinton‘s defeat. Since then, the women’s-only club grew to have locations in other major cities, such as Los Angeles, Chicago and San Francisco. During its peak, the Wing had a total of 11 locations and a waitlist of 9,000 people. However, the COVID-19 pandemic began affecting the company, resulting in layoffs and the closing of some locations.

Check out the email sent to the Wing members below.
