'Wednesday' May Not Be Returning to Netflix
Prime Video might be Nevermore Academy’s new home.
Wednesday has captured our hearts as the Netflix series outranked Stranger Things as the streaming platform’s most popular show, earning more than 400 million hours in one week. Fans may be disappointed to learn that the series may not be returning to Netflix for its second season.
Despite its rave reviews, the Tim Burton-directed TV show might be making the switch to Amazon‘s Prime Video for its second season. Last year, Deadline reported that the corporation and MGM closed an $8.5 billion USD merger, giving Amazon the opportunity to bring the popular show under its wing.
The speculation might just be that as a spokesperson from Netflix shared with MailOnline, “MGM make programs for any number of streamers and broadcasters and their acquisition by Amazon does not change that. The sale has no impact on existing rights deals.”
It seems like fans of the Addams Family spinoff might have to wait and see, but some love Wednesday as much as Gomez and Morticia love each other and are already waving goodbye to Netflix as one Twitter user wrote, “If Wednesday moves to Prime Video, then there’s nothing on Netflix that will interest me anymore I hope they go bankrupt.”

Strong words aside, we’ll follow Wednesday anywhere. In other news, Jenna Ortega, who plays the titular role, was deservedly nominated for Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Television Series.
