NEEDLES' Eccentric Flair Takes Over ASICS' EX89 Silhouette
A striking purple hue accentuates the shoe’s minimal canvas.
Japanese brands NEEDLES and ASICS have joined forces to launch their inaugural footwear collaboration. While both brands have a history of successful sneaker partnerships, this venture will be their first as a duo.
The collaborative shoe, known as the EX89, draws inspiration from a basketball shoe dating back to 1989. NEEDLES’ distinctive purple hue takes center stage in this release, with two colorways on offer. The first pair features a predominantly black leather construction adorned with purple stitching. The second option offers a similar design but with white as the primary color. In both versions, ASICS branding is prominently displayed on the heel, embellished with purple embroidery. Just below the ASICS logo, you’ll find NEEDLES’ iconic papillon motif.
The release is now available to purchase via ASICS’s website and select retailers. Each pair is priced at ¥24,200 JPY, which is approximately $162 USD.
