Saucony’s Crystal Cave Sneaker Series Is Made for Adventure

Commemorating a milestone moment, the newest iteration of the ProGrid Omni 9 series from Saucony, the Crystal Cave, arrives as part of the athletic brand’s Autumn/Winter 2023 collection. The limited release sneaker returns to Saucony’s roots and coincides with the brand’s 125th anniversary, sporting eye-catching design elements inspired by the captivating Crystal Cave of Pennsylvania, the state Saucony first started. With splashes of shimmery shades throughout the silhouette and tech-forward features, the Crystal Cave shoe merges the worlds of sport and style together.
As the brand’s latest sneaker silhouette, the Crystal Cave follows in the footsteps of its predecessors, paying homage to Saucony’s origins in Kutztown, Pennsylvania. “Crystal Caves came to my attention while researching the historical background of Kutztown,” lead designer of Saucony Originals Josh Fraser says. “Saucony’s founding and history is intertwined with the community and ran parallel with the long history of the cave, both for over a century. The Crystal Cave was a hidden gem of sorts, [has] always been there and felt akin to our own path and DNA.”
The mesmerizing metallic colorway that covers the shoe — and its’ cheeky namesake — nod to the popular Pennsylvanian tourist attractiong, adding pops of gemstone-like opulence to its sidewalls. The enchanting elements of the kicks don’t end there, as the silhouette’s upper undergoes a crystal effect and the open mesh base shifts shades with lighting variations.
“The Omni 9 was one of our crown jewels, an iconic tech model that meshed well in representing the multitude of colors and materials the cave would convey,” Fraser remarks. “The reflective and iridescent elements and the play of light on each surface, for me represented it well. Much like the cave there was always another element to discover the more you look. The pack was there to speak both legacy’s of a community that helped create both,” he continues.
Featured in a custom box along with dedicated sock liners, the sneaker style stays true to Saucony’s innovative spirit, with advanced ProGrid and Arch-lock technology that supports adventure and self-expressive styling.
