American art collective, MSCHF, has outdone itself with its latest release — and we’re sure you’ll agree.

Inspired by Dora the Explorer and her best friend Boots, the outlandish offering comes in the form of a pair of Big Red Boots, in a bid to bridge the gap between the cartoon world and reality. Citing the cartoon world as “an abstraction that frees us from the constraints of reality,” the brand’s new release offers a playful, light-hearted approach to art and fashion.

Designed with simplicity at the heart, the chunky, cartoonish footwear arrive in a vibrant red colorway with little to no branding. Complete with delicately grooved soles, the boots are composed of a TPU rubber shell with EVA sole units and feature a subtle MSCHF logo on the reverse. To celebrate the release, MSCHF enlisted Sarah Snyder for a casual campaign shot against a backdrop of New York City’s streets, further emphasizing the dramatic proportions of the boots.

“If you kick someone in these boots they go BOING!” MSCHF writes in a press release, adding “You never design shoes to be shaped like feet. Big Red Boots are REALLY not shaped like feet, but they are EXTREMELY shaped like boots.” We can’t say we disagree.

The MSCHF Big Red Boots are set for release on February 16 exclusively via the MSCHF website and Sneakers app, priced at $350 USD.
