Jil Sander Captures the California Feeling With SS23 Collection

“A desire for different ways of living and being.”

Jil Sander makes its pilgrimage out west, venturing out to California for its Spring/Summer 2023 collection.

Initially debuting at Milan Fashion Week, the assortment of dynamic, statement-making garments are inspired by the golden state’s expansive nature, one-of-a-kind culture and tangibly unique spirit. Each piece infused with the location’s instantly serotonin-boosting energy. “California means a desire for different ways of living and being, from the visions of the hippies to the futurism of Silicon Valley. It means radical perspectives, non-conformism, experiments with psychedelics, contradictions and opportunities,” creative directors Lucie and Luke Meier share in an exclusive press release.

Models Adwoa Aboah and Jonas Glöer pose languidly underneath palm trees, proving opposites attract as juxtaposing silhouettes, “creat[ing] showing off the space of freedom we all need; what we want to be, the way we want to be.” Extravagantly tassled dresses, alongside lilac tops knitted to mirror an abundant bouquet of flowers. Dramatic white feathered blouses command attention with a high neckline, while longline tuxedo jackets add a needed dose of seriousness to the otherwise jovial collection. Sleek and shiny fitted boots, sumptuous leather handbags and glittering, woven clutches bulk up the offering.

Indulge in a bit of wanderlust and take a peek at Jil Sander’s SS23 collection in the gallery above.
