Muslim Women’s Day (MWD) is celebrated on March 27 every year to shed light on the Muslim women. The global movement highlights the experiences and achievements of Muslim women in different fields from beauty to fashion, art, sports and more. The celebration of MWD allows space for talents to further their visibility, share their vision and views and break stereotypes and perceptions. It also provides a space for Muslim women to express themselves, celebrate their diversity and talents and provide support to one another.

This year, in celebration with MWD, the team has put together a list of modest fashion labels owned by Muslim women. In Islam, modest fashion is key to many Muslim women. Those who choose to dress modestly typically incorporate loose and full coverage clothes that are not revealing yet still express their state of mind and mood. From Finland to Bahrain, below is a list of a few selected labels to keep a look out for.

Malimania

Malimania is a Helsinki-based fashion and lifestyle brand established in 2020 by a young Somali couple, Nadir and Salma. The two gradually infused art, fashion and culture into the brand to create and fuel conversations of diversity, acceptance and new expressions.

LOUELLA by Ibtihaj

The family owned and operated label is founded by US Olympic fencing medalist Ibtihaj Muhammad. LOUELLA by Ibtihaj carries easy-to-wear pieces that are modern and stylish while also focusing on silhouettes and functionality.

Noon by Noor

Bahrain-based label, Noon by Noor, was founded by cousins Shaikha Noor Al Khalifa and Shaikha Haya Al Khalifa. The brand focuses on luxury and confidence with relaxed silhouettes and powerful dress codes.

1309 Studios

Not limited to solely modest fashion, 1309 Studios is a Qatar-based label founded by Ghada al Subaey that carries an array of styles that cater to different means of self-expression. The ready-to-wear label celebrates clean silhouettes, bold colors and decorative prints.

ELHM

Founded by Mugel Al-Harazi, Breshna Hemati and Hind Mahdi, ELHM expresses elegance and strength with every piece. The London-based brand is building a community of modest fashion wearers that don’t compromise self-expression.
