The DCEU Unveils Its First-Ever Latino Superhero in the New 'Blue Beetle' Trailer
Xolo Maridueña stars as the titular role.
The DC Extended Universe has released the first official trailer for Blue Beetle, which features the franchise’s first-ever Latino superhero — Xolo Maridueña playing the titular role, aka Jamie Reyes.
The official synopsis reads as follows: “Recent college grad Jaime Reyes returns home full of aspirations for his future, only to find that home is not quite as he left it. As he searches to find his purpose in the world, fate intervenes when Jaime unexpectedly finds himself in possession of an ancient relic of alien biotechnology: the Scarab. When the Scarab suddenly chooses Jaime to be its symbiotic host, he is bestowed with an incredible suit of armor capable of extraordinary and unpredictable powers, forever changing his destiny as he becomes the Super Hero BLUE BEETLE.”
In addition to Maridueña, the cast includes Harvey Guillén, George Lopez, Bruna Marquezine, Belissa Escobedo, Adriana Barraza, Elpidia Carrillo, Damián Alcázar and Raoul Trujillo.
Blue Beetle is slated to hit theaters on August 18. Watch the first trailer above.
