LUAR Makes Foray into Jewelry With Mejuri Collaboration
First teased on the FW23 runway.
Mejuri has tapped CFDA’s Designer of the Year and LVMH semi-finalist, LUAR, for an all-new collaboration, marking Raul Lopez’s first entry into jewelry.
First teased on the brand’s Fall/Winter 2023 runway show, the collaboration aims to continue the accessible luxury ethos of both brands, offering unparalleled quality and craftsmanship whilst still boasting affordable price points. This particular collection seeks to support self expression and spotlight the importance of community.
“Mejuri was built on the premise of redefining luxury for the everyday, for everyone,” says Noura Sakkijha, CEO and Co-founder of Mejuri, in a press release. “My team and I find the next generation of creatives in the industry incredibly exciting and I am delighted to partner with Raul and his brand LUAR on this collection. He is part of the zeitgeist of cultural shape-shifters who align with our values in disrupting the status quo.”
The collection comprises Convertible Hoop Earrings, an “Ana” Hoop Charm and a brand new iteration of LUAR’s signature Ana Bag, aiming to support the concept of customization and originality. Each piece was crafted around the idea of transformation, allowing its wearer to “convert” the item from a day time accessory to a night time companion. The Ana bag also features a gold chain and co-branded jewelry pouch — a major first for the Mejuri brand.
“My love for Mejuri comes from how similar to LUAR, the brand is focused on delivering classic icons that each individual can make their own,” adds Raul Lopez, Creative Director of LUAR. “Whether on a Gen-Z girl, a girl from Queens or my grandma, the product comes to life in its own expression and that’s the power of our brands, enabling people to interpret our creations and make them their own. It’s about accessibility!”
To celebrate the collaboration, Mejuri and LUAR tapped 27 members of their community for a campaign shoot, comprising both experienced models, friends of the brand and creatives — in a bid to prove that no matter who you are, when wearing the LUAR x Mejuri collection, you’re all part of the same community. Alongside the community-driven campaign, $5 from the sale of each product will be donated to Stonewall Community Foundation.
