Daytime television host Jerry Springer is dead at 79.
The Cincinnati native succumbed to old age, peacefully. “Jerry’s ability to connect with people was at the heart of his success in everything he tried, whether that was politics, broadcasting or just joking with people on the street who wanted a photo or a word,” Jene Galvin, a lifelong friend and spokesman for the family shared with USA Today. “He’s irreplaceable and his loss hurts immensely, but memories of his intellect, heart and humor will live on
Springer hosted the long-running Jerry Springer Show from a momentous 27 seasons from 1997 — 2018. Springer served as the mayor of Cincinnati for one year, from 1977 — 1978.
