AVAVAV Is Walking Dead With a New adidas Originals Collaboration
The brand’s FW25 collection, presented at MFW, includes two new adidas Originals footwear silhouettes — the Moonrubber Megaride and a sculpted-sole Superstar.
Give Beate Karlsson a runway and she’ll always deliver — whether it be throwing her haters in the trash for her Fall/Winter 2024 collection or giving “runway” a new meaning for Spring/Summer 2025.
AVAVAV has become a favorite on the Milan Fashion Week circuit due to its satirical takes on the industry, thought-provoking showcases and irreverent silhouettes. For Fall/Winter 2025, the Stockholm-based brand unveiled its “The Hole” collection with models rising from the grave onto the catwalk. But, there’s more than meets the sunken eye within the show’s concept.
Karlsson shares her inspiration for the FW25 collection stating: “Lately, I’ve been grappled by a quiet fear – one that lingers rather than overwhelms. I’ve been dealing with some health problems recently – things I never would have expected to face so soon – and it has forced me to reflect on how I’ve treated my body over the years. Rather than letting this fear consume me, I chose to channel it into this collection.”
Expanding on the concept of fear, the collection also opens commentary on the anxiety around longevity as an emerging designer and the fragility of life. Models crawling out from the underground paint a poignant picture of survival and the uneasy balance “between control and surrender.”

As for the collection, AVAVAV FW25 is packed with the brand’s signature ribcage cutouts, exaggerated outerwear and gothic palette. Pleats are resurfaced in baggy denim while sporting gloves and sock-heels continue the brand’s sportswear influence. Adding to the ruggedness, American football uniforms arrived with full shoulder pads and the word “Loser” smacked on the chest.
FW25 also marked AVAVAV’s second collaboration with adidas Originals. The collaborative team up includes hoodies, jackets, trousers and the return of their “Don’t F*** With Stripes” graphics. As for footwear, AVAVAV unearthed two new adidas Originals footwear silhouettes – a sculpted sole Superstar and an extra voluminous ’90s running shoe called the Moonrubber Megaride. For accessories, AVAVAV partnered with Swedish jewelry brand Glitter and revived its retro gym bags with a ballet-core twist.
