TikTok's #HotGlueGunMakeup Is the Satisfyingly Dangerous Trend We'll Risk It All For

The beauty side of TikTok has recently come up with the latest trend that involves carrying a hot glue gun in your makeup bag. Taking DIY to the next level, creators have taken to the app with the crafty tool to create their own Y2K-esque futuristic face stickers.
For context, the #hotgluemakeup trend was first started by BeautyToker Vanessa Funes @cutcreaser who used a hot glue gun to create a metallic silver eye at the beginning of March. Of course like most never-before-seen looks, the video instantly went viral on TikTok with many other creators jumping on board to curate their own looks. While the creator makes the how-to videos look extremely easy, anyone who has used a hot glue gun can attest to how difficult it is to come out with smooth lines and shapes.

Funes admitted it took many attempts to get the perfect look. Designs need to be cut and trimmed to appear symmetrical or align with the face structure. Placement can also be an issue, as hardened glue can be irritating and uncomfortable if placed incorrectly.
While #hotgluegunmakeup is hot and in high demand right now, we must note here that you should wait for the glue to cool before applying it and never apply it directly to your face or near your eyes. While searching the tag on TikTok, we found that creators are placing the shapes on the brow, forehead and cheekbones. Some are referring to the trend as “eyeliner” and that in itself is potentially dangerous as those who may be novices may think they need to apply it closer to the eye area.
You can apply the fun designs to your face with safety measures, but please avoid the immediate area around the eye.
