Jenna Ortega Is Confirmed to Star in Tim Burton's 'Beetlejuice 2' Along With Winona Ryder

Plus, the film finally gets a premiere date.

It’s been confirmed that Jenna Ortega will be starring in Tim Burton‘s Beetlejuice 2. Winona Ryder and Michael Keaton will be reprising their roles from the original 1988 film. In addition to Ortega, Justin Theroux will be joining as a newcomer.

The sequel will be a continuation of the original film in which Ryder portrays Lydia Deetz. Ortega will star as Lydia’s grown daughter in the upcoming movie.

10 years ago, Ryder expressed her interest in a Beetlejuice follow-up. “I’m kind of sworn to secrecy,” the actress told The Daily Beast in 2013. “But it sounds like it might be happening.”

She continued at the time, “It’s not a remake. It’s 27 years later. And I have to say, I love Lydia so much. She was such a huge part of me. I would be really interested in what she is doing 27 years later.”

Beetlejuice 2 is slated to release on September 6, 2024. Stay tuned for more updates.
