Sasha Ferré Explores the Unseen Processes of Nature in "Morphogenesis"
On view at Unit London.
Sasha Ferré, a French artist based in London, has opened her first solo exhibition at Unit London, entitled “Morphogenesis.” The showcase features Ferré’s unique style of visualizing unseen natural processes, such as microorganisms and the tiny crevices in our homes. She uses an improvisational technique of applying oil sticks directly to the canvas while allowing her intuition to guide the direction of each piece.
The exhibition is designed to evoke an imaginary landscape that encourages viewers to reflect on their relationship with the natural world. Ferré’s abstract work showcases flora, germination and vegetal growth that she intentionally leaves it open to interpretation for viewers to create their own meanings. She also highlights the ecological crisis and humanity’s relationship with nature as a critical concern of our time.
As part of the experience, a contemporary dance performance by Temitope Ajose-Cutting took place on May 4, with proceeds benefiting a U.K. environmental charity of his choice. “Morphogenesis” by Sasha Ferré will be on display until May 20.
