Ultra-Rare Apple Sneakers Are for Sale at Sotheby's for $50K USD
The sneakers were given as a gift to Apple employees during a National Sales Conference held in the mid-’90s.
In a world where vintage Apple products have become sought-after collectables fetching exorbitant prices, a new category is soon to take centre stage, rare branded Apple footwear. Surprisingly, the buzz surrounding the upcoming Apple Vision Pro AR headset’s steep price seems to pale in comparison to the astronomical figures vintage Apple products are now commanding in the market.
Recently, Sotheby’s, the luxury consignment entity, listed a pair of Omega Sports Apple Computer sneakers for an astonishing $50,000 USD. These ultra-rare kicks were originally custom-made for Apple employees and exclusively distributed at a mid-’90s National Sales Conference. Despite the passage of time, these sneakers have retained their allure. Admittedly, age has left a few marks on them, including slight yellowing around the midsoles and light scuffs on the toe boxes.
Nevertheless, for collectors, these imperfections only serve to enhance their vintage charm. Boasting a chunky ’90s style, the sneakers feature white leather uppers with perforated details and classic Apple logos on the tongues and windows, displaying the company’s iconic vintage rainbow fruit insignia.
For those willing to spare a pretty penny and who wear size 10.5 US, the opportunity to own this piece of history is available through Sotheby’s website.
