David Hockney: Drawing from Life at the National Portrait Gallery in London will see a collection of 33 new portraits the English artist created between 2021 and 2022, among which there is a special highlight—a painting showcasing Harry Styles. This portrait was captured during an intimate three-day session at Hockney’s Los Angeles studio, perfectly capturing the acclaimed singer’s charm as he wears a shaggy yellow cardigan with bold red stripes and his signature pearl necklace.

At the age of 86, Hockney’s creativity and curiosity continue to shine brightly. The exhibition is not only a celebration of his artistic mastery but also an expression of gratitude and, perhaps, a farewell to those who have played significant roles in his life over the past five decades. In addition to the collection, the exhibition includes intimate portraits of five sitters: Hockney’s mother, Celia Birtwell, Gregory Evans, Maurice Payne and the artist himself.

Harry Styles shared in an exclusive interview: “David Hockney has been revolutionizing our perspective on the world for decades. To have the privilege of being painted by him is an honor beyond words.”

David Hockney: Drawing from Life opens on November 2, 2023 at the National Portrait Gallery in London and will run until January 21, 2024.
