Cecilie Bahnsen Welcomes Us to Her Ultra-Feminine Universe

Plus a first look at the brand’s new ASICS collaboration.

For her Spring/Summer 2024 showcase, Cecilie Bahnsen rejected perfection and instead focused on the persistent and intimate feelings of beauty within the process of design. Before the show commenced, a soundscape of deep breathing could be heard throughout the room nodding to the feeling the creative director and her team likely felt backstage.

As the presentation started, white lace dresses flooded the runway which were soon followed by multi-hue pinks and jet black colorways. Keeping with the tradition of “Everyday Couture,” the brand unveiled a selection of denim garments stitched with red tulle. Uniting functional fabrics with floral motifs, Cecilie Bahnsen creates an ultra-feminine universe that we all want to live in.

Read on to hear from the creative designer herself about the beauty in her process and special remarks on the brand’s new upcyled ASICS collaboration.

Was there a specific moment that led you to the concept of “Beauty in The Process” this season?
I think it’s been there the whole way through. For me, it feels like everything is moving really fast so, I just wanted to be able to slow down and do what I enjoy, which is the craft of creating and celebrating my team. There was a very special moment where we did the red stitching and denim and that somehow tied all of the colors together. So, we decided it just has to be all red and pink and that’s how it became this beautiful celebration of these colors.

It’s not the first time you’ve experimented with denim, why did it feel right as the standout addition?
This season, more than ever, we found a feminine take on it and wanted to share that with the world. With the small mini skirt and the sculpting in the pockets, it adds craftsmanship to an everyday fabric. That’s what I like, we wanted to tap into what people actually like to wear.

In the show notes you talk about an “Ulta-Feminine Universe,” what does femininity mean to you today as the binaries between genders break, in fashion and in life?
I think there’s a beauty and an ease to it. This might be cliche but there’s also a strength in femininity with the notion that you can be whoever you want. You can be a woman and wear a poofy dress and ride your bike or go pick up your son and those daily transformations are what make us special. There’s also a positivity to it and I think that’s a real strength as well.

Lastly, we have to talk about the ASICS collaboration. Tell us about what’s new this time around?
This one is an upcycled collaboration which we also did for the show last summer so, it’s a nod to that. We also wanted to embody these very couture pieces so, there’s only a run of 50 and they are all handmade in our studio.
