Kim Shui Is Living La Dolce Vita for SS24

Paying homage to her Chinese and Italian heritage.

Kim Shui‘s shows are unmissable as the It-girl approved designer dresses everyone from Blackpink to SZA. Her Spring/Summer 2024 show was no exception as Saweetie was in attendance to witness Shui’s ever-flirtatious design. Nodding to her mixed heritage, having been raised in Italy by two Chinese parents, Shui’s latest collection represents a harmonious marriage of the two uniquely different cultures.

What: Kim Shui’s SS24 collection marks a turning point for the brand as the CFDA/Vogue finalist expands on her usual party-girl attire, presenting a rainbow of colors and a variety of silhouettes, offering something for everyone.

Where: The show took plac.com/files/202e within Manhattan’s oldest Italian restaurant, Barbetta.

Who: Suki Baby and TikTok‘s favorite fashion girlie Antoni Bumba walked, while Saweetie sat front row.

Saw: Emphasizing Kim Shui’s trademark coquettish vibe, models were flirting with the audience as they wore a mélange of brightly colored corsets, strapless floral dresses kissed with mesh hemlines and color-blocked lace frocks decorated with a bold fringe. While some models rocked heels, others were rocked crisp and clean white tennis shoes, pointing to the versatility of the collection. Kim Shui often leans on the sexier side, but this season welcomed different silhouettes, providing varying hemlines for those who want just a touch more coverage. Naturally, more modest options were contrasted by micro mini skirts and sheer tops.

Touch: Lace was a dominant fabric, joining mud silk, a sacred Chinese material.

Hear: The atmosphere was exceptionally community driven as the crowds were not shy about hyping the models up.

Taste: Marrying her Chinese and Italian cultures, Kim Shui’s SS24 collection is a true celebration of her American dream. The overall aesthetic was Marie Antoinette on vacation in Italy with a prominent Chinese influence.
